Job Opportunities

PLRC’s mission is to improve the breadth, depth, and speed of global research into Long COVID and associated conditions, and to advocate for policies that improve the quality of life for Long COVID patients worldwide. We ground our work in the principles of disability justice, and guide ourselves by knowledge that those who experience an illness can strengthen research and accelerate solutions.

The team is made up of ~50 primarily volunteer patient-researchers from multiple countries who are also living with Long COVID or other IACCs. Long COVID is a relapsing-remitting illness, and our members are living with ongoing disability. Because of this, our culture is disability-focused and we prioritize health. We ask for and do our best to accommodate accessibility needs. We encourage members to set up their work schedule according to their needs, except for participating in regular meetings. We prioritize saving spoons. We value asynchronous communication and generally work in Slack over calls as much as possible.

We are hiring for two roles at PLRC. These are both 6 month contracts with the possibility of extension. Ideal dates are mid-January to mid-July 2025, though there is some flexibility to start a few weeks earlier or later. Each of these roles can be between 25-40 hours/week, with PLRC’s needs being more comprehensively met by full-time roles. However, we can adapt the workload to accommodate applicants unable to work full-time, and we encourage applications from all individuals who can commit to at least 25 hours/week.

The Fundraising & Operations role is open to candidates from anywhere in the world, as long as your hours at least partially overlap between 12-4pm Eastern Time; the Partnerships & Advocacy role is US-based.

Salary: $80,000-90,000/year for full-time; for fewer hours, this would be proportionately scaled (i.e. 30 hrs/week would be $60,000-$67,500/year). Benefits may be available and vary based on hours worked and country location.

To apply, please fill out the application form here: https://forms.gle/z5gRridrZzVfJ3od8 Interviews will begin on a rolling basis, but the deadline to apply is December 31, 2024. If you require accommodations or more time during the application process, please email us at team@patientledresearch.com.

PLRC values diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strongly encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those from marginalized or underrepresented communities. We are committed to creating a workplace that reflects these values.
